நாளை , பலவந்தமாக காணாமல் போனவர்களின் சர்வதேச தினத்திற்கு முன்னதாக, இன்று ஐ.நா. பொதுச்செயலாளர், யு.என்.எச்.ஆர்.சியின் ஸ்தானிகர் மற்றும் யு.என்.எச்.ஆர்.சி.யின் உறுப்பு நாடுகளுக்கு நாங்கள் கடிதங்களை அனுப்பியுள்ளோம் என்பதை எங்கள் தாய்மார்களுக்கு தெரிவிக்க விரும்புகிறோம்.

பின்வரும் முக்கியமான தகவல்களை நாங்கள் வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளோம்.

  1. இலங்கை போர் குற்றங்களை சர்வதேச குற்றவியல் நீதிமன்றத்தில் கொண்டு செல்லவும்.
  2. இலங்கையின் வடகிழக்கில் உள்ள தமிழ் தாயகத்தில் இலங்கை இராணுவத்தை மாற்ற ஐ.நா அமைதி காக்கும் படையை அனுப்பவும்.
  3. இலங்கையின் வடகிழக்கில் தங்கள் பண்டைய தமிழ் தாயகத்தில் வசிக்கும் தமிழர்களுக்கு ஒரு அரசியல் தீர்வைத் தீர்மானிக்க ஐ.நா. அங்கீகரிப்புடன் வாக்கெடுப்பை நடத்துங்கள், இதனை 2011 ல் தென் சூடானில் ஐ.நா செய்ததைப் பின்பற்றியாது போல் செய்யவும்.

மேற்கூறிய 3 விடயங்களும் காணாமல் போன எங்கள் குழந்தைகளைக் கண்டுபிடிக்க முக்கியமானவை. இவை யாவும் தொடர்ந்து காணாமல் ஆக்கபப்டுவதை தடுக்கும்.

மேலும் இன்று நாம் காணாமல் ஆக்கப்பட பிள்ளைகள் கண்டுபிடிப்பதற்காக எம்முடன் தொடர்ந்து போராடி இறந்த தாயமார்களுக்கும் எமது அஞ்சலிகளை தெரிவிக்கும் ஒரு புனித நாளா நாம் தேர்ந்து,

நாம் அவர்களின் துனிச்சலையும், நம்பிக்கையையும் பாராட்டி,

அவர்கள் எங்கள் வாழ்வில் ஒரு வழி காட்டிகள் என்று கூறி ,

Re: Refer Sri Lankan War Crimes to ICC and the Need for Referendum and UN Peacekeeping Force

Excellencies,

On the eve of International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, we the undersigned Tamil mothers of abducted children by Sri Lankan army are writing this letter in our booth where we have been continuously protesting for 1289 the day that is located on Kandy Road in Vavuniya, Sri Lanka. We write this to urge you to support the following:

  1. Refer Sri Lankan War crimes to the International Criminal Court.
  2. Send a UN peace keeping force to replace the Sri Lankan military in the Tamil Homeland in the northeast of Sri Lanka.
  3. Hold an UN sponsored Referendum to determine a political solution for the Tamils who live in their ancient Tamil homeland in the northeast of Sri Lanka, following the example of what the UN did in South Sudan in 2011. The Tamil mothers of missing and abducted children have been protesting in Vavuniya since March 2016. Today, the day we write this letter, is the 1289th day of protest. As part of our protest we have been fasting by skipping our one meal per day.

We have been losing the mothers, our friends, who were protesting with us, due to the physiological stress. Unless there is an investigation by reliable sources like ICC, the situation will become worse among the mothers and for their health.

Our children were teens when they were abducted by the Sri Lankan military in 2009; now they are in their twenties. We know they are alive somewhere in Sri Lanka.

The new president and prime minister were the responsible party for genocide and war crimes. Only external systems like the International Criminal Court will ensure justice and accountability.

The Sri Lankan army is controlling our the Tamil economy, culture, our farm lands, our homes, and our lives. They spread violence through financially affected Tamil communities and the military allows drug dealers to sell their drugs to Tamil youths. It is destroying our Tamil boys and girls.

Because of the Sri Lankan military presence in the Tamil area in the northeast, there has been a sinhalization of amil villages through Sinhalese settlements and the spreading of Buddhist symbols.

The Sri Lankan military is holding Tamil women and men as sex slaves in their camps. It is part of genocide and destruction of a race.

Rape, abduction and torture are daily events in the Tamil homeland under Sri Lankan Military occupation. Also, Sri Lanka has the world’s second highest number of disappearances.

It is the time to send a UN force to the Tamil lands and replace the Sinhalese military.

As per the request of a UN resolution, devolution of powers will not be possible in Sri Lanka. The Sinhalease government has said that there would be no true federal constitution in Sri Lankan, only a Unitary State with Buddhism having foremost status.

Therefore, Tamils need a referendum to express and help realize their political wish.

We want to expedite our justifiable requests ASAP, otherwise most Tamils will be oppressed, and these ancient Tamils and their culture will face a rapid extinction.
